THE LAST RAY

 In Nature

Spending time at the Maroon Bells is always special. I was there a few nights ago after the sunset and caught the last ray for the day.

I could feel nature going to sleep: light diminishing, air getting cooler, deer moving quietly through the trees and wind calming down. Everything was more subtle and required my senses to be paying better attention. Finally, my eyes caught this last ray of light. Good night day, tomorrow is a new day.
